Kanha National Park

This time, the plan was to get out of Nagpur heat to some place livable. I wanted a place on the hills, but my friend was absolutely sure that the jungle could be the best destination.

And he was right. At Kanha, the maximum day temperature could reach was around 30- 35 which was way better than Nagpur burning at 45 degrees (113 F). Some facts -

Nearest City - Jabalpur (132) KM
Nagpur - 280 KM
Places to Stay - Many, We stayed at Muba Resort near to the Mukki gate. (http://mubaresorts.com/)
How to go there from Nagpur - NAGPUR - BHANDARA - KOHAMARA (take right from here) - GONDIA - BALAGHAT - UKWA - BAIHAR - MUBA RESORTS

The road last 4 km is fun to drive. By the look of the surroundings of this road we never expected the dense forest in next 3-4 km.

The Resort is built strategically at the edge of the reserve forest and you can expect to see some wild live from the resort itself. (If you are lucky).

For catching the glimpse of  wild cats though you have to book the safari which can be found at 5 km from the resort at Mukki Gate.

Do not forget to see the souvenir shop at Mukki gate. You could pick something up for your friends from there.

Entry to the resort. The resort is huge. Has 2-3 gardens to sit back and relax, a restaurant to serve you good hygienic food.

Rooms are spacious and lot of wood logs are used to decorate the interiors. Feels premium. The rooms are equipped with Air Coolers and Air conditioners depending on the room you select.

The room I was staying in does not have a TV. Thank god for that. I would never watch TV at a nature location. I am not sure about the other rooms though. I don't remember if there was a phone line in the room or not.

Mobile signal reception is bad and not available most of the time.

What to eat at the restaurant -

The restaurant makes different meals every day. So you don't have much choice to order a la carte. However the all you can eat menu includes vegetarian and non - vegetarian items. Some snacks can be ordered but depend on the availability.

View of the resort

Apart from the gardens, the resort has  badminton court, a pool, table tennis and a carom for recreation.

FOREST DEPARTMENT GUEST HOUSE

Though there are many resorts available in that area, I checked out the best place to stay at Kanha National Park in my next trip. And what could be better than the Jungle Guest House?

Built in 1909, Mukki forest guest house is located inside the tiger reserve was built by the English people staying in India then. The place has 3-4 basic rooms which are clean and are used by the government officials who are in the area. Though these can be booked by the general public from the Forest department website.

As per the care taker of this guest house, a lot of wild animals are spotted near to the resort. They have even seen tigers some times near to this resort. And for me, that's exciting.

When staying here at the forest guest house, you get picked up by the safari vehicle from resort only.

Tea time at the Forest Guest House

A perfect place to sit and connect with the nature

This is where I am going to stay next time I go there. Though it is around 280 km from Nagpur, taking two night out from the busy schedule is much needed by all of us.
